I am a culturally sensitive Registered Psychiatric Nurse and Registered Masters Social Worker, having worked in mental health for over 30 years. I work from a holistic, strength, and evidenced-based perspective adding to a person’s tool box for life. Life stressors, losses, and tragic events can have an impact on our coping, but with the right tools I believe everyone has the ability to create healthy coping techniques and positive changes in all relationships. I am passionate about developing secure attachment in all relationships, assisting those who are struggling and who are seeking holistic relief from difficulties and life stressors.
I have been working in mental health since 1988 specializing in treating complex and acute trauma. My background as an instructor for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) has allowed me to connect and work with trauma survivors in all areas.
I practice from an attachment-based and trauma-informed framework. My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is currently the most evidenced-based method for treating trauma. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
The areas that I specialize in and am passionate about are anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, mood disorders, family of origin issues, intergenerational/developmental trauma and event trauma. I also specialize in reconnecting family and couples’ relationships using attachment work and the Gottman Method.
